To begin SPC 1017, our professor assigned a group project to the class based on different chapters. The class was divided into three different groups, one group per chapter, and we were in charge of collecting the required information to basically teach the chapter to our classmates. Each student had to create 2 or 3 powerpoint slides based on their assigned topic from the chapter and insert any information they thought was important. The groups were assigned chapters 3,9, and 10, and create a powerpoint based on their understanding. I think this was an amazing start to our SPC 1017 class because it gives everyone a chance to put in their own skills and knowledge to create a group presentation, and most importantly it gives the group time to get together and communicate altogether as a class group.

The first group was assigned chapter 3, lucky to say that in fact that was my group. Chapter 3 was about Intercultural Communication and the differences brought upon through different cultures. My group and I began to present from the most basic ideas of the chapter to the more complex ideas treating race, ethnicity, religion, sex and gender, and all the information in between. I believe my group and I had a great presentation to begin with, everyone had an equal amount of topics and fairly distributed the amount of work put into the presentation. We, as a group, came together to decide what was best for us and made sure to present from the broadest to the most detailed information included in our chapter. Many of us, portrayed pictures and videos to go further on with the explanation of Intercultural Communication and all the ties of that matter. Group one was very visual and clear with their details on the chapter explanation, we as a group made it very understandable on the importance of communication between different cultures including religion, gender, race, and ethnicity.

The second group presented Chapter 9, Communication In Groups. The group per usual distributed the topics equally into a good amount per student. The student then went on to create several slides based on their topic, creating an entire presentation. The presentation was amazing, my classmates amazed me once again, a lot of them didn't even read off the powerpoint, which was an amazing tip from our professor. Many included pictures and videos to educate more on their designated topic. My classmates discussed social groups, families, service groups, interest groups, and support groups, etc. They explained the basics and roots of each group and what their task is in society. The differences between each group and their behavior was explained throughout the powerpoint presentation. I strongly believe this group was outstanding because they brought attention to every detail, even the most minimal that maybe we didn't know we needed to learn from that chapter. The group as a whole presented a chapter with complete knowledge of what they were speaking about.

Lastly, the third and final group present chapter 10, Group Leadership and Problem Solving. This group also amazed me. They did an excellent job presenting and demonstrating the effectiveness of solving possible issues in between groups sometimes. The group explained the different leadership roles and their importance. Communicating as a group is a main key point when it comes to group work to avoid any and every problem possible. This last group was very detailed and organized, they presented many statistics regarding their own topic. Each classmate elaborated well enough to give the class a great understanding.

Here is a picture of a group coming to an agreement!

Overall Class Feedback
All in all, I think this specific SPC 1017 class collaborated significantly with one another. Each classmate participated with their 100% and outdid themselves. Doing research, making the slideshows, and presenting to every other classmate, every student deserves an outstanding recognition for making their first presentation so comprehendible and clear.
