Infrastructure Blog 2 By Fabienne Cadet

Among all the good in the world, and all the progress being made in global issues, there is still much more to be done. Given the overwhelming disasters that nations, including the U.S., have been or still are going through, it is important to be aware of the most pressing global issues. Being knowledgeable and educated on these issues can become the reason why we overcome them. Project 2 focused on themes of topics that needed to be addressed. And the three topics discussed were climate change, infrastructure and gender equality. We were given the task of taking these three topics and deciphering all the things we can do to understand and help our country and the world in the upcoming years. The three topics were divided into our original groups of 3. Group 1 which was my group handled infrastructure, while group 2 had gender equality and group 3 Climate change.    Starting this project was very frustrating to say the least. I did not know where to start. But the thin...

Infrastructure    The beginning: This project was quite the journey. From the very beginning I was excited because I love every single topic, infrastructure, gender inequality, and climate change; and I actually enjoy talking about them. We got infrastructure which I believed, at the time, that it was the one I knew the least about. However, I was highly mistaken. Infrastructure is quite literally everything and everywhere: from the electricity in your house, to your car, to the dinner you have that night. I was really looking forward to finding out what entailed infrastructure. As a group, we made different sections to best explain infrastructure from as many angles as possible. Then, we did the research! Favorite Parts: I loved finding research for my portion of the ...

My group and I were tested with a fascinating assignment; making a project based around Infrastructure. Under Infrastructure was many subtopics to choose from my group and I all picked one subtopic to do research on. The subtopics that we had to choose from included: An American perspective on infrastructure, A history overview on infrastructure, a world perspective, Important events National organizations, Local originations, Government laws on infrastructure, federal laws, and what’s going to happen in the next 10-20 years which was my part of the project that I choose to do. I was very interested in my part of the project because I wanted to know how everything will loom or what is speculated to happen in the next couple years and surely I was amazed for what was planned for the future holds building, highways, homes, everything you can think of is planned to be changed in the way that only some can imagine I love my part and I learned a lot one of the things I l...

Second Round of Presentations

Hello reader, this is my second blog post about the presentations held in class. My overall opinion on groups one, two, and three presentations were good. I can tell everyone worked well and completed their role to the best of their abilities. However, was there room for improvement? Absolutely, there’s always ways we can better explain and present new information to our peers. I was in group three and our topic was Infrastructure. I assumed doing this presentation was going to be smooth sailing just like the first time around, but I was completely mistaken. We decided as a whole group to create the outline as follows: 1. History/Overview 2. American Perspective 3. World Perspective 4. Where we will be in ten to twenty years 5. An interview with an FPL worker 6. Local Organizations 7. National Organizations 8. Important Events 9. Government/State/Federal Laws 10. Environment (how it affects the environment and how the environment changes infrastr...

Introduction to infrastructure (PART ONE) My group and I were challenged with a pretty interesting task; creating a theme project based around infrastructure. This project was based around subtopics which everyone in our group had to do. These topics included: a history overview on infrastructure, an american perspective on infrastructure, a world perspective, where we will be in 10-20 years, local organizations surrounding infrastructure, national organizations, important events, government laws on infrastructure as well as federal laws, and the environment and how it is affected by infrastructure. These subtopics within the full structure were divided per person and everyone in the group had to present their part accordingly. I would say everyone in the group did a great job. Introduction to infrastructure (PART TWO) After we all worked together and came out with a well organized plan on how we were going to do the prject, we got straight to work, I would say my group as well ...

Infrastructure Presentation Experience Blog 2

Introduction via GIPHY Hello reader(s) and welcome to my second blog.   So, for our next assignment, my group needed to make a presentation on Infrastructure.   It sounded easy, but it ended up being a far more arduous task than I had previously expected (for my part at least). Deciding roles So, for our presentation, the roles went as follows: History and Overview World Perspective Next 10-20 years National Organizations Important Events State Laws Federal Laws Infrastructures effect on the Environment The Environments effect on Infrastructure There was a fair amount of discussion over who would take over what role.   For some strange reason, I felt inclined to make comments the History and Overview roles, and eventually ended up taking that role.   Immense regret Withered Wojack Sticker from Withered Stickers History, for many subjects it’s a relatively simple thing to explain.   Infrastructure was not one of those subjects. ...

Group Project idea           What is group project? Well, group project is the interaction of people who work together to get the job done and a front any output. When you hear the word "Group Project" many ideas came out to your brain. Few ideas that can poop up are, oh no time to work with random people. I in particular I am not a group guy, I do not like to depend on other people and I do not like to be a burden. Group project can be very hard and difficult to do for people who are not use to work with others, people who care about the grade and are shy. In the other hand a good team project for a very long project can be very beneficial and relaxing because you are able to divide the work and have more time to focus and prepare.  Environmental Adjustment               My group project had the obligation to present Chapter 3 Intercultural Communication and there is when the preparations start. Our group was crea...

First Presentation Experience (Fabienne Cadet )

Whenever someone hears the term “group work”, immediately there are feelings, emotions, and thoughts that bubble up. Personally, working with others is not one of my strong suits and I try to stay away from that as much as I can. Working on your own feels easier. It can be efficient, you can work on the project in your own time, and you can control the whole process. Letting go of control is what I struggle with.  However, at times it’s inevitable and regardless of personal feelings you have to do the work. To me working in a group enables you to examine topics from the perspectives of others. When you are required to discuss a topic and negotiate how to address it, you are forced to listen to other people’s ideas. Their ideas will then influence your own thinking and broaden your horizons. Being social significantly enhances learning . Not only do you have to hear others' perspectives, but you also have to compare, contrast and integrate their perspectives into you...
