Group Project idea

          What is group project? Well, group project is the interaction of people who work together to get the job done and a front any output. When you hear the word "Group Project" many ideas came out to your brain. Few ideas that can poop up are, oh no time to work with random people. I in particular I am not a group guy, I do not like to depend on other people and I do not like to be a burden. Group project can be very hard and difficult to do for people who are not use to work with others, people who care about the grade and are shy. In the other hand a good team project for a very long project can be very beneficial and relaxing because you are able to divide the work and have more time to focus and prepare. 

Environmental Adjustment 

 

           My group project had the obligation to present Chapter 3 Intercultural Communication and there is when the preparations start. Our group was created for our professor in alphabetical order. A total of 12 people were part of the group and we were the first one to present. The professor did not give us that much of information to start off and we were kind of lost. As first group project we just got 2 days to do the project and present. A day after the class what it was a day before presentation was when we finally ended knowing our parts to present. Very disorganized in part of our group but it is understandable to happen after all our time was short and class literally just started. I ended up taking the remaining what it was Individualism/ Collectivism. For a better understanding of how our project was divided it and presented it, it was like this: Culture and Communication presenting it Anthony. Dominant Cultures, Co-cultures, and Cultural identity Chap intro was presenting it Fabienne and race too. Diego who introduced the part of sex & gender and also sexual orientation. Gabby talked about religion and Socioeconomic status. Age/ Generation from Alfredo and disability too. Briannette took care of how cultures differ and I Alfonso talked about individualism/ Collectivism. Damian did the context part. After Damian, Emily presents chronicles. Alysha uncertainty avoidance. Carlos with power distance and also masculinity/ femininity. Emily again presented with the long-term/short-term orientation theme. Alysha also comes back and talks about indulgence. Dhamar potential barriers. Angel ended the chapter context talking about competent communication strategies. 

     

the day

          The day of the presentation started on Thursday for us the Group 1. We had the whole class time to present what it is 1 hour and 10 minutes. I went to bed earlier the night before presentation to not be sleepy the next day and not have problems to keep an eye open in the class. I did not take breakfast before class time, it is too early for that. I was really nervous even before the class started. I always get nervous when I am presenting a project but I try my best to do well. 

Day Transition 

             There we were presenting with the camera and audio on as professor Sherri wants. My moment to talk just came like it came to the rest of my team. I checked if my microphone was working and yes it was doing just fine. So I started talking about my theme individualism and collectivism groups. In my first slide I had a picture of an adult person talking with a little boy and showing what he says as an individualistic person or a collectivism one. I talked too about some aspects that represent both groups and I also mentioned in what country you most likely find that groups. Second slide was a two last bullets finishing the ideas of first slide and at the middle of the slide there it was two pictures also showing both cultural traits. Last and final slide was a 4 minute short video giving a final review to empathize what I was talking about before about both cultures. My presentation ended like that and it was time to continue watching my team doing your best. 

Thoughts about the day

               In general it was an amazing presentation on part of everyone. Even though we had few time to prepare it went smooth and well coordinated. Having the whatsapp group was a key for this success, after all we can talk at any time about our project. Not one missed to do the job and everyone was presenting the day of the presentation, well except one person that changed of class and we did not know about it, but one class leader took care about that person part presentation. Many people were shy that day and few ones did not turn on the mic but they tried the best and I am happy about it. There are so many things we have to change like removing some information from the slides and add more pictures but for being our first presentation as a group and have only 2 days to prepare it was better than I expected.

                     

Time to enjoy!

               We often go to the cinema and watch a movie and enjoy our time with popcorn, I am sure everyone does it. Well after our presentation was done it was time to enjoy the show. The next two whole classes were dedicated for the other two groups projects, chapter 9 communicating in groups and chapter 10 group leadership and time problem solving. In chapter 9 they talked about families and the meaning of what defines families, also the types of family that exist. The socials groups like primary are your friends you normally handle out and secondary group are the people who you do not talk at all or not handle out often. In the project they also talked about support groups and the benefits they give you, healthy groups, virtual groups. In general they were talking about different groups we have in the society. Chapter 10 group had amazing videos post and they looked well prepare too. They were talking about leadership, the task that a leader has, the responsibilities and the preparation. What they do after a meeting is over, knowing how to write a brief what is very important for your coworkers and company understanding of the situation. This chapter presentation about leadership I find it very important for us to know after all we are all colleges students and many of us are thinking of becoming a leader in the society and even if you are not planning to become leader it is important for you to know this so you can understand your boss's responsibility and how difficult it can be. knowing how to write a brief what is very important for your coworkers and company understanding of the situation. Group project idea after 

                 I find now group project in this class different from what I was thinking. At the end of this become something enjoyable to do thanks to this group I'm part of. It still can be a mess but this first impression that I got from working with them is enough for me to know I am in the right place. I am willing to do more projects with them and help each other out. Looking forward to impress everyone with my next team project.
